  • Peninsular War soldier

    Greetings from Canada,

I am researching a James Littleworth of the 82nd. regiment of foot who enlisted in 1807?, pensioned in 1816, presumeably wounded and had the rank of colour sergeant at the time or later since he re-enlisted at a later date.
Any help with clarifications would be appreciated.

Have you got his army service papers? If not then I think they would be at The National Archives but not available online.

They were the Royal Irish Fusiliers? who went on to be, currently, the Royal Irish Rangers, would it be worth contacting them to see if they have any early records? I read that in the Peninsula war the 87th foot captured an Imperial eagle, how exciting if your ancestor was there.
