  • Street name Newcastle under Lyme

Sorted, thank you. See post 7

Can anyone make out the name of Elizabeth's street on these 1914 attestation papers please?

For comparison, the line above reads "Julia Machin Mafeking Ter. Sunderland

And does anyone know what the letters in front of each of the names of next of kin would indicate?

Thanks for the o y explanation Kate!

I'm afraid I'm assuming it's under Lyme because that's where Elizabeth had lived up till then and the last child was born there in 1910.:o

Some of the family moved up there to the mines when the coal was running out in the Staffs area but I haven't found anything to suggest Elizabeth did. I'm wondering why her brother didn't know her married name - Proctor - I wonder if he could have had the street wrong?

Update - I've just found Elizabeth in Hatrell Street in 1901 so I think that must be what the mystery street above is supposed to be.

              Thanks for looking Kate!
