  • Hunting the missing Davis brothers

I am trying to find out more about the sons on this census entry

Richard E Davis and Herbert William Davis

    Enable Cookies - Ancestry.co.uk

I haven't found births for either that I'm happy with and I can't find Richard after 1881.

I have Herbert with the family in 1891 RG12 Piece 2428 Folio 72 page 7
    :(
Both are no where to be seen in 1901.

By 1911 Richard P says he has had 7 childern, 4 being dead. So either Richard or Herbert is dead by 1911, but I don't know which.

To make things a bit more complicated on the 1871 census Richard is listed as Edwin. I also have a broach "made by gt uncle Edwin"

Then in 1921 in his will Richard P leaves his watch to his son "Albert" which he doesn't seem to have had as we have it! So has Herbert become Albert and is Richard/Edwin dead

    All suggestions gratefully recieved

I think this explains 'Uncle Edwin'...

    Births Jun 1865
    Davis Richard Edwin Joseph
    Birmingham 6d 210

    He marries in 1890...

    Marriages Mar 1890
    Baker Amy Annie
    Davis Richard Edwin J
    Aston 6d 411

He and Annie are on 1891 and 1901 censuses, with children.

Yes that death does look possible. Hmmm so who the heck is Albert!! I definitely a son as he gets a third of the estate with the daughters!
