  • Fresh eyes please......

    Hi,

    have been having a nosey through my tree and have at long last begun to tackle my 'Manleys'.

    can anyone find James Manley b. 1809-1812 at Hemyock, Devon in the 1871/1881/1891 census, he will be a widow, occ ag lab/husbandman.

    there are at least 7 James Manley's & families IN devon at this time. I am attempting to track ALL of them family by family, census by census.

    1861- Class: RG9; Piece: 1478; Folio: 43; Page: 2;

    - Ancestry.co.uk

    I have 1841/1851/1861...

    any help appreciated.

    I believe James dies in 1897, but I have yet to order this cert. (on my todo list!!)

    I haven't found James but 2 of the children listed with him in 1861, William and Emily are living with a brother Matthew in 1871 RG10/2168/35/18.

    There was a James Manley death registered in Tiverton Mar 1865 5b 347. I think Uffculme was ccovered bt Tiverton.

      Hi Robert,

      yes you are quite correct.. Tiverton does cover Uffculme.

      hmmmn I wonder if he did die, though, I feel sure that I have found him elsewhere with his children at some point...

      but I could have dreamt it!!

      and if he did die that would account for the children being with their brother?...........

              I can only find the children Matthew, William and Emily living together in 1871and this may be Mary working as a servant

              No sign of James if he did not die he could have remarried ?
