Old challenge - more info

Hello everyone

I hate to bring up my Charles Pote again but I have some more info on him which may open some other avenues to search.

I have him on all census except the 1881 and 1891 census.

He was arrested in December 1882 for taking watches ect from people he told he would repair them for.
He was sentenced in January 1883 to two months Imprisonment (Unsure where he was sent).
He was sentenced at the Flintshire Quarter sessions.

On the 1881 census his wife and kids are going under the name of Depote.
His wife decided to up and leave him and married another gentleman named George Milner.
She married under a variation of her step-fathers name which leads me to believe she was a bigamist.

Charles did not die untill 1898 and Im awaiting his death cert to see what that brings up.

Charles was living in Chester in 1879 as I have the birth cert of his son.

In the Chester Chronicle It states that the man he diddled John Robert Denman said that Charles had stated he was new to Rhyl and was started his own business.

His wife was in Lancashire on the 1881 census under Depote.

Any help locating him on the census would be fantastic.

what year was charles born and where?

Charles was born c1844 in Dalston Middlesex.

In the newspaper article in 1883 it states he is 33 which is about 4 years out.

Danny he is also in the Rhyl (North Wales Chronicle) on 16th Dec 1882, is this the same case ? He stole three sets of earrings and three brooches ?

Good morning Danny...I`ve just googled Dalston,Middlesex......comes under Hackney registration....on freebmdbmd.org.uk there is a
Charles Abraham Pote b 1842...registered in Hackney,Middlesex...looks the only possible for your Charles....also on Cheshirebmd.org.uk Frederick Charles Pote b 1879 babtised in Chester cathedral......allan;)

That is my Charles but his age varies from census to census so I always search fron c1844.

The frederick Pote in question is the son of Charles (I have his birth cert)

Its just the census I cant find to be honest.

So Danny...if he wanted to avoid being known as Charles Pote because of his conviction,might he be ABRAHAM Pote on the 1891 census ??...just a thought...allan;)

Scratch that, I have searched under various names and still no sign of him.

I really want to complete Charles life so I know what he did for the last 20 odd years of his life.

Damn this man.
