It's certainly not easy to read - even at 150%!

At one point I thought it said beserk! but I don't think it can be that!

I'll study it for a bit - until someone else comes along and reads it straight off...
So far it still looks like baserk to me. :o

Researching: BENNETT (Leics/Birmingham-ish) - incl. Leonard BENNETT in Detroit & Florida ; WARR/WOR, STRATFORD & GARDNER/GARNAR (Oxon); CHRISTMAS, RUSSELL, PAFOOT/PAFFORD (Hants); BIGWOOD, HAYLER/HAILOR (Sussex); LANCASTER (Beds, Berks, Wilts) - plus - COCKS (Spitalfields, Liverpool, Plymouth); RUSE/ROWSE, TREMEER, WADLIN(G)/WADLETON (Devonport, E Cornwall); GOULD (S Devon); CHAPMAN, HALL/HOLE, HORN (N Devon); BARRON, SCANTLEBURY (Mevagissey)...

I think it is an abbreviation of Warwickshire - they often used that column for extra info on birth county or country as it was rarely used for its proper purpose.

Once you stop trying to make it into a description of some kind, then Warwick make much more sense - especially as there wasn't room for the County by the time they'd written "Ryton in Dunsmore".
