  • 1901 lookups, please

Alfred Dodd (b1874 Coventry) married Laura Pickering or Agnes Turbitt Q2 1898 Coventry ... I'd appreciate it if someone would please do a 1901 lookup to see which one he married ... address, occupation, wife's details etc., would be useful too.

I'd also like to know the whereabouts of Alfred's brothers (all born Coventry) William b1868, Henry b1879 and Walter b1866.

In 1891 Walter is married to Sarah J and living Gosford St., Coventry / occ: fitter - iron trade

    thanks

    Alfred married Agnes.

Living at 135 Broad Street, Coventry.

Occupation looks like Cycle Finisher - hard to read.

    Agnes born 1876 Coventry.

Daughter Agnes D. born Foleshill age 1.

blooming 'eck Jane .... thanks for speedy responses ...

reflecting on past experiences, Dodd is quite often mistranscribed

            Deaths Jun 1901
            Dodd Henry Samuel 24 Birmingham 6d 104

The three youngest children are on the 1911 census.

Have got to go to the supermarket now but will be glad to do more lookups if you need them when I get back.

Just reading this thread and George wondered if Walter died at an early age? He said that the particles of dust and dirt, coming off the mops polishing the rims would possibly have got into his lungs. It would have been a very unpleasant job.

Just noticing that they were from Coventry, which, according to George, is where a lot of the cycle firms were - like Raleigh.

Sorry, just some trivia for you

Hi Val ... yes, I thought it was probably the Raleigh cycle factory ..

looks like Walter was still around in 1911 (he's be approx 46)

                              although there seems to have been quite a lot of bicycle manufacturers in Coventry;
