death certificate question

My grandfather, Norman L Baker, died in England in 1979 while on vacation. Ancestry says it has the death index up to 1983, but I can't find his death. How do I get a copy of his death certificate?

Was he Norman Lancelle Baker b 7th Oct 1913?

There's a death for the above in Q4 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne District Volume 2 pge 0416

You need to search the index, looking at the image for each quarter. Just type in his name and year of death and view each image.

Did you click Elaine's link in Post #5? Maybe you were in the wrong Index section? You need the one that runs from 1837 - 1983.

Click on the icon at the end of each line to see the image. You will find him in the third one, the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter

I've typed his name several times and it won't come up. I haven't a clue why.
