1861 lookup, please

Hi - Walter Dodd b1844 and his sister Mary Ann Dodd b1847, Coventry are living with their grandparents John and Sarah Dodd in 1851.

I'd appreciate it if someone would please let me know their whereabouts in 1861.

I've got to say, I'm not totally convinced of that one with her being listed as Mary and not Mary A.

There is a Mary A born 1847 in Nuneaton though

the 2 children above were the illegitimate children of Elizabeth Dodd, she married Samuel Wakefield in 1848 - this may be why they were living with their grandparents in 1851, so think it unlikely that they are either Mary Ann you've found

I've just been on BMD and found the marriage of a Walter Dodd to Sarah Whitmore Q2 1865 Coventry + Walter Dodd bQ1 1866 Coventry.

I've had a look under Wakefield too and nothing either

Their surname has frequently been mispelt on censuses ... I'm presuming that if that is Walter's marriage in 1866 he must have been somewhere in 1861. Unfortunately don't know what his occupation might have been then as he was only 7 in 1851,

Yes, I remember looking at some Dodds for a friend of mine and they were always being mispelt

The fact that I can find neither of them makes me wonder if they are together somewhere. I hate it when I can't track them down :(

The writing isn't very good at all. It could say Watch Finisher and the address is something like 13 Head/Hand Court, St Nicholas, Coventry

I think I may have found the family minus Walter in 1881 at the Workhouse, Coventry Poor Union. It does however state that Sarah is married .... so where is Walter in 1881?

1881 confirms what I found on FamilySearch earlier ... Sarah + a few more children, but NO Walter

My first thoughts, when finding Sarah + younger children in the workhouse in 1881 was that Walter had died and they were destitute ...

I wonder if they'd split up by 1881 ???
