  • Cant find birth index

Could you please help my find two birth indexes. I've searched the BMD, Ancestry and IGI but just cant find them.

    According to Census' info.

Henry James Mason would be born c.1884 Kentish Town

William Henry Mason c.1888. Kentish Town.

    Thank you

    Regards

I think Kentish Town comes under Marylebone.

    Possibility for William:
    Births Dec 1887
    Mason William
    Marylebone 1a 584

        Cannot see them under Pancras.

Have you got the 1891 census - if so can you give us the reference.

          (Pancras is correct)
There's a William Henry in 1884 and one in 1890. No Henry James' though.

            Thank you Elaine.

I think your right with Kentish Town being in St. Pancras.

William had the middle name of Henry....Would he not be registered with his full name.

Not always registered with a second name - sometimes they are added in later life.

Where are you getting the years and places of birth from?

The 1891 Census shows the brothers born in Highgate,
Source Citation: Class: RG12; Piece: 137; Folio 189; Page 13; GSU roll: 6095247.

1901 Show birth place as St.Pancras
Source Citation: Class: RG13; Piece: 151; Folio: 39; Page: 2.

1911 Census shows Kentish Town London.

Henry James Army records show he was born c.1884 (Possibly Sept)

Thank you Orange blossom, What do you think the chances are for William Henry birth Index being the 1890 one, bearing in mind it could be 2 years out. The Mothers maiden name would be Paxton.

I think the 1890 William registration is this one

Just had another check on the 1891 Census. It shows William Henry as 5 years old. This would make his birth 1886.
Henry James was 7 years old (b.1884)

1901. William Henry was 13, so born 1888.
Henry James was 17, born 1884.

                      1911. William Henry was 23, born 1888
Henry James was 27, born 1884

It seem Henry James was the only consistent birth year, I can not think why it's so hard to find him in the indexes.

If there are no better options, I'll order this birth cert. (fingers X'd its the right one).

Any more idea's on Henry James Mason. b.1884 Kentish Town, Highgate or St.Pancras. If not his birth cert, what about a death cert. Have no idea when he could have died, only that it would be after 1950's. The last address I had for him was somewhere near the Battersea Power Station.

                        Thank you

Have you checked the 1891 census to see if there are any other children who could fit the potential birth registration(s) you have found?

                            Hello Mary.

William and Henry had a sister Emily Mason.

The 1881 Census shows Emily aged 7 b. Kentish Town.

On the 1891 Census Emily was 17 years old b.1873 Highgate.

She died April 1893 aged 19. The address on the death cert was 304 Kentish Town Road, Pancras.

                            Birth index: Emily Mason
                            Year of Registration: 1873
