  • More help please, occupations

    Hello,
Can someone please tell me the occupations of these 2 gentlemen in the 1891, 1901 & 1911 (if available) censii ( . .uses?) (it's early)

1, J J S Walker (John James Selby) born 1865, living Alnwick area of Northumberland

    2, C S Bampton (Charles Sewell) born 1870 - location as above

Many thanks (I will buy a sub as soon as I can)

I didn't explain it very well - John James Selby are Walkers Christian names; John James Selby Walker

      ditto Charles Sewell Bampton

      Sorry

      (a Taylor too)

I've found a possible in 1891 with his family in Durham, birth place Sunderland father Samuel, do you want me to mail you that as well?

BTW way I think he married Jane not Ellen ;)

I found charles easily enough in 1911 but I'm not clever enough to work out who was in the house with him and I think the only way to find the occupation is to look at the image or transcription

I can't read the occupation either! This is an extract

It's the top occupation that is causing the problem

If anyone wants to look at the whole image this is the link (samuel is the occupation that I can't read)

                          "Gardner" sic. makes sense

The address appears to be ? Lodge. and the house above is Ashworth (?) Hall - a lady "living on own means" with several staff, (including a masseur?)

Is it ditto as Ashworth Lodge? The lady must have had a very nice lifestyle with all those servants!;)

I heard some people don't have a live in masseur . . how sad is that? :D

I don't think it's actuallyAshworth . . . . but life's too short and too many jobs that should have been done an hour ago . .

                              Clare, I owe you!
