    It looks like Portmanteau Maker to me but that makes no sense.

      Yes but what is a portmanteau?

      Edit to say: I searched for Portmanteau which made no sense but with Maker its a Suitcase/luggage maker!

              I was being a bit dumb I think today I put it down to tiredness :p

              I remember the word now my grandmother always used it for cases! I knew I knew the word but I didn't know why I couldn't remember.

              She used some strange words at times it was like she was stuck in another century!

              On another note I just found one of OH's ancestors in Whitechapel Union Workshoure in 1841 aged 8 with his brother aged 12 no other person with their surname in there and also they aren't listed together - different pages. Can I assume then that their parents had died which is why they were there.

                No, their parents may simply have been unable to take care of them for some reason. Or one might have died and the other not.
