How many photos fit on a cd please?

I am scanning in old photos at 600dpi (mainly 3.5 by 5 inch)

How many can I fit on a cd. At the moment I have done very little to them-a project for when I get bored.......:D

It depends on the file size (MB) of the pictures. A CD holds 700 MB.

About 570mb with 300 photos.

Do I need to leave a bit of space on a cd or will it use all the 700mb for photos?

It's the time involved that I am trying to save as I am doing 5 copies of each cd and will probably have over 1000 photos at the end
