  • Help with Wiltshire research needed

I have Timothe Whitebread b abt 1600, who married Fayth Smith 21 Oct 1624,Rushall Wiltshire.

Timothe was buried 30 April 1685, Rushall,Wiltshire. Fayth died Oct 1680 again in Rushall.

Info from Transcripts obtain from Wiltshire RO by someone on here (thank you).

I have been looking on Ancestry,FMP,Family Search,FreeReg and IGI for Wiltshire and can find no trace of Timothe or Fayth.

Is there any where else I could try?

    Thanks

      Hi Chrissie.

If it helps, from the parish register transcriptions, Timothy's burial entry reads "Timothy Whiteread" and Faith's is "Faith Whitbread" (no e)

Can I look anything up for you? - I have the parish register transcription booklet for Rushall.

Just had a look on WFHS baptism Cd. No results for Timothy, the only Faith Smith was baptised Wilsford 1643/4 (used soundex on both names), so not yours.

The cd covers 14 parishes in the Rushall area.

Really, I have a lot of whit(e)breads from the Rushall area, but right now I'm trying to connect Timothe to possible siblings for him, his birth/bap and maybe his father.

          Possible siblings are

John who was buried on 17 March 1661/62 in Rushall, married Christian Bell 31 July 1654 in Pewsey but could be a second marriage and
Robert who was buried on 20 March 1683/4 in Rushall, married Mary ? and then Joane Stratton.

          Thank you

The closest match I've found on bap cd is for a John Whitebread, bap 7 Mar 1631 at Charlton St Peter (nextdoor village), parents Osmund & Joane. If John married in 1654, it could be him.
But there isn't a birth for Robert or Timothe with the same parents.

            Sorry that's not much help!

Thanks Sue, thats basically what I've got.

What CD are you using, I'm wondering if its worth me getting a copy as I have lots of whit(e)breads in the area

It's the Wiltshire Family History Society baptism CDP2 - 14 parishes south & east of Devizes. Although it doesn't seem to like running on vista, I often get error messages. There are also lots of transcription books for most of the parishes in that area, think I've got them all now!

I ordered mine through Genfair quite a while ago, the books were less than £5 each when I bought them, so good value. Although I do check the details in the parish register when I can, but haven't found any mistakes in the transcriptions yet!

I think there's going to be a family history event on at the Worcester racecource sometime this year, if Wilts FHS have a stand they'll have the books and disc's.

Event at Worcester is in August, dont think I could wait that long, I'm trying to get as much together as I can, before I contact my cousin who has been researching a lot longer than I have (but it seems I might have got back further than she has).

This is also the link to the Wilts FHS own web site. You might find something useful.

In the meantime, if you'd like me to look anything up for you, just 'shout'

Edit to say: there's a members interest page and there's someone who's researching Whitbread's in Rushall, I believe you'd be able to contact them.
