  • Help finding my great aunt in 1911 please

My great aunt Edith Mary Newey married John Fernyhough on 14 Sep 1904 at St Paul's Burton on Trent.

I don't believe they had any children.

Edith was born 18 Nov 1881 in Burton on Trent, John in 1864, I believe in Scropton, Derbyshire.

I have a death for John in 1926 in Burton Jun qtr 6b 394. I don't have the cert.

I know Edith remarried a Frederick George Doe in 1926 in Wandsworth (she didn't wait long did she) Sep qtr 1d 953. Well I know she married a George Doe, I assume that's the marriage.

I can't find John Fernyhough or Edith in 1911.

    Can anyone?

The nearest I can find in 1911 is a John Fearn born Derbyshire 1860, living in Burton on Trent, with an Edith Fearn in the household.

        Hi Zoe

I don't really know anything about him.

I do know he was a monumental mason. This is his cottage. I believe it was in Fordingbridge, Hampshire.

          I saw that one Mary.

Not sure if I should risk some credits or not.

Margaret. there is a John Fernyhough (that spelling) b Scropton who is a clerk on the 1911 living in Burton upon Trent district, but he is only 41. Hwever, I can't find another JF on the 1901 who fits this and as he was older than his wife maybe he rounded himself down?

                      Email slow to load Merry

I'm wondering if Edith left John. Perhaps thats why she turned up in Wandsworth married to George Doe in 1926 so soon after her husband died. Perhaps she was waiting for him to die?

Sent you email now with image.

I reckon the image says he was 47. which means he was born 1864. That's him.

                        No sign of Edith.

                        Where the heck is she?

The census page suggested John had lost two children.

I wonder if these is one of them?

Edith Helena certainly makes sense as Edith obviously mothers name. Helena was her mothers name and she died in 1903.

                              Thanks Merry.

I inherited some old and unnamed photos when mum died. There was one of a baby. My late uncle said he thought it was of a baby that Auntie Edie had that had died.
Some members of the family swear that Edith never had any children.

I've tried every combination and wild card I can think of. I just can't find Edith in 1911.

                                Can anyone?

I've thought of that and checked what isn't yet available.

I can't for the life of me think why she would in any of those places.

but it's still worth waiting, even if you don't think they're there?
i've had that before. right under my nose, i just believed it was the wrong county.

It says it's his sister and nephew.

It is, I found Sabina in 1881 her name is transcribed as Feryhough.

I have found a marriage to a William Jervis and his death.

I have also found a marriage to Samuel Taylor Ellison.

                                        That's her sorted.

                                        Still can't find Edith grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
