Help with death please

Hello all

Im looking for the death or marrige (If he lived to adulthood) of Arthur Rodolph Depote.
He was born in Rochdale Lancs in 1881.

From your posting on Rootschat, I see that he was the son of Lucy Depote, a widow in 1881 (mistranscribed as "Depete" on Ancestry)? If so then it would seem that Arthur was born out of wedlock, being born just after the 1881 census (no marriage for Lucy around that time). Do you have Arthur's birth cert? What if he was actually known by his father's surname, rather than by his mother's name (which is what he would have been registered under)? This death draws my attention - only because there is no corresponding birth under Maddocks. What if Arthur's father was a Maddocks? Long shot, I know! It is out of their area too, but I see that Arthur's sister Florence died in Stroud in 1887, so they'd evidently headed south by then!

Hiya Richard

That does look like a possible death for him. I have no idea where the name Maddocks has come from. I have his baptism and it states his mother and father as Charles and mother as lucy which matches my info.

Anyone able to help I would be most greatful and see if a Maddocks fits in somewhere.
