I used to have AVG but changed to AVAST another free one was advised it was slightly better than AVG. so far so good.

I'm not an expert on these matters Val, but I thought Windows Defender was an anti spyware rather than anti virus.
I have Windows Defender running on my laptop alongside AVG without any problem.
