I have a red cross over my internet icon in the bottom r-hand corner of my screen, but am able to be on the internet. A bit puzzling, anyone know please why the red cross?

If they are small TV screens one should have a red cross and the other one has a flashing blue screen.
Have you tried clicking on the one with the red cross? it should take you to the connection screen.
Maybe your INTERNET connection uses a different icon.

Thanks James, panic over, just switched back on after having switched off and it's back to normal now. Thank you anyway. Normally only see the red cross until it's connected. It has gone now.
