  • Military badge experts - anyone?

    Hi

Can anyone shed any light on the three badges pictured below please?

These were found in a box which included buttons featuring the motto of the Royal Northumberland Fusilers, a cap badge for the Coldstream Guards, and some Royal Marine tunic buttons.

I believe the one on the left is a farriers badge - would this apply to any particular regiment

    Thanks in advance

Hi, mounted regiments all had farriers, I also think the big badge is something to do with that . If no one knows I would suggest the great war forum as I suspect all the badges date from about then.......

Barbara's right, the Great War Forum is definitely the place to go with those.

Many other units would have had farriers, as horses were used to pull guns, limbers and other transport, so a farrier could have been with the Army Service Corps, Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery etc .... then there's the Army Veterinary Corps, lots of possibilities.
