  • Charles Abraham Pote

    Hello all

My 4xGrt Granduncle was Charles Abraham Pote and he was born c1842 in Dalston Middlesex London.

I have him on the 1851 and 61 census but I cannot find him on any other census.
He married in 1876 but Im unsure of the wife's name and he died in Wolverhampton in 1893.
On the 1861 census he was in London as a Watch and Clockmaker apprentice with a gentleman named John M Baat (Unsure of exact last name spelling) from Germany.

I have searched ancestry for awhile now, can somebody please help me locate him on any of the other census?

    Many thanks Danny

There's a private family tree which contains his details, so you might try contacting the owner.

I have found him on the 1871 in lodgings in Wolverhampton under the name Charles Pope, Watchmaker:

The name, the occupation and Birmingham all seem to suggest it could be my man.

I just wish I could find him on the census and see if the places gives clues.

                  Thankyou Elaine

                      Riley Lucy Augusta
                      WOLLEY William

                      Wolverhampton 6b 853

I think William Wolley married Ciceley/Sisley Barber, so presumbaly Charles married Lucy Riley.

                            Ahhh a much younger bride.
                            Mistranscribed as Potts.

Might fit why Charles was in Bangor Wales.
