ok, so i have this birth reg, and no census entry.

    Births Jun 1881
Morton William Herbert Lambeth 1d 517

he's supposedly the son of john morton and marian vye gadd. he eventually moved to south africa. also supposedly fought in the boer war.

except i was just looking at the census entries for his family, and he's never there. i was wondering if anyone could track him down? maybe he's not the son of john and marion?

i can't find a likely death cert either.

In 1891 there is a William H Morton age 9 born Brixton, London, nephew of Henry Dorling(?) at 65 Canonbury Road, Islington, London, and Henry's wife Cecilia was born in Chichester, same as Marion, so I'm guessing Cecilia might be Marion's sister?

FreeBMD has a possible marriage Sep 1880 Lambeth between Henry Dorling and Cecilia Frances Gadd, so I think that settles it!

        awesome. thanx kite.

he was too young to fight in the first boer war 1880-1881,
but he was probably in the second 1899-1902
family rumour has it he stayed there. he is known to have been married and had kids there.
        he wrote letters too.
