    I think it should be
    [EK]
meaning that the transcriber couldn't quite work out what the middle initial should be.

PS - I've looked at the Ancestry image, and I can understand the problem!
Researching: BENNETT (Leics/Birmingham-ish) - incl. Leonard BENNETT in Detroit & Florida ; WARR/WOR, STRATFORD & GARDNER/GARNAR (Oxon); CHRISTMAS, RUSSELL, PAFOOT/PAFFORD (Hants); BIGWOOD, HAYLER/HAILOR (Sussex); LANCASTER (Beds, Berks, Wilts) - plus - COCKS (Spitalfields, Liverpool, Plymouth); RUSE/ROWSE, TREMEER, WADLIN(G)/WADLETON (Devonport, E Cornwall); GOULD (S Devon); CHAPMAN, HALL/HOLE, HORN (N Devon); BARRON, SCANTLEBURY (Mevagissey)...

Looking at the original it means the the second initial could be an E or a K.

Looks like an E to me

PLEASE SCAN AT 300-600 DPI FOR RESTORATION PURPOSES. THANK YOU!

The image shows the entry as
        DOLMAN Georgina E
        or
        DOLMAN Georgina K

I believe if the transcriber is not able to decipher the writing/text they enter what they think it might be in square brackets - so I presume [ek] means the second name either starts with an E or a K.

Looking at the 200% enlargement, I also reckon it should be E!

One of us should report the solution to FreeBMD.

This could well be the corresponding birth, which would confirm the middle initial is E:

                  Births Sep 1891
