  • Searching 1911 census

I haven't really got into searching the 1911 census yet
but could do with some pointers please.

Are the advanced features working yet?

Are you able to search and get narrow down the results using

    1. Name and place of birth
    2. Name and occupation

    I'm missing a James Andrews, 57 a clogger born Oldham 1853

have got his wife and 10 yr old son in Salford - she's listed as being married for 16 years (can't find marriage) and is the head of the household.

On her death in 1915 she's down as his widow - but can't find a death either before or after 1911.

I'm thinking I'll have to wait until all the census has been released.

Yes, they have put in the advanced features - if you use a wildcard make sure you tick the box for it.
Yes, you can search on birthplace and / or occupation, but the trouble is if those are mistranscribed then you won't get a match, and they don't allow for wildcards in those fields.
