Hi Being Cheeky with two questions today :o

I can't find RFC service records on the NA site :(

I've got R.E. Merry in the Canadian RFC (he was too young to enlist) then the British RFC till 1918 then briefly in the RAF until 1919.

He was a Major by then (they still used Army ranks) but the NA is at its irritating best and produces thousands of records none of them RFC for WW1

I know he crashed his plane twice and fell out once !! You'd think that would have warrented a record if only "keep him away from the bloody planes" :D

Did the RFC issue campaign medals ??

Maybe its me being useless but Help Please !

    Thanks Roger

Not sure if you have found this - or whether it is of any use!

You might find something in the Gazette:

At its inception the RFC was part of the Army and maybe their records can help?

          Hi Roger,

My late Uncle was in the RFC in WW1.

The RFC Records are in AIR76 at Kew, but they are on microfiche, & so not available on-line. You have to visit the archives to find them.

Thanks everyone - as ever inundated with information !!

I wonder why the RFC hasn't been put online - can't have been that many people , comparitively speaking.........

I'll add him to the "when I visit Kew" list - i'll need to visit for a week at this rate !!

Thanks again for all the leads

            Roger : ))

Roger, the Great War Forum has quite a few experts who might be able to help.
