  • William Chadburn can anyone see him 1861 cens pls

Spent all last night looking for

William Chadburn b. 1843 Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottm.

have him in all census apart from 1861

I can only find one William Chadburn on the 1861 living in cheshire, as a a step son, but my Williams mum was named Sarah.

My William dies in 1918 @ Papplewick. Nottm.

    any help would be brilliant..

    thanks for looking.

With the information you have given I can only find him in 1891 and 1901 - so the earlier census refs would be useful.

dont suppose you fancy another ?

Williams first wife was Mary Ann Crofts b. 1846 Hucknall Torkard Notts, she dies aged 22 (per NBI @ mans woodhouse) in 1868.

William then marries Esther Cox @ mansfield 1868, she dies 1874 after Esther was born.

last marriage to Elizabeth Crofts born 1849 @ Hucknall Torkard, Notts

now she is supposed to be the sister to Mary Ann, but I cant find them.. on cens, well, I tell a lie, I found Mary Ann on the 51 I think it was in Hucknall, but not anything else.

                Is this Mary in 1851
                - Ancestry.co.uk

                - in which case younger sister is recorded as Hannah, not Elizabeth.

What evidence do you have that Mary and Elizabeth are sisters?

I started typing that one out but closed the tab by mistake! Elizabeth jr is shown as "nurse" on that one, which seems a bit strange!

yep just found that one too Kate.

Elaine, re Elizabeths DOB, I also found the one where it stated 1853, and this does seem likely, just that the headstone, gives a different date. (but realise that also dependent on who gave the details for the headstone, might not have known, or gone by the death cert, and that could be wrong too).

I will have a look for William on the 1911 and see which is what there, I know that Elizabeth wont be with him cos she died in 1905.
