I haven't found him on the 1871 yet. Do you know if he was married?

Yes Jane he was married. l have found his wife and two of his children in Dudley, Worcs in 1871. His other daughter Esther Charlotte Swatton b. 1864 Middx is also missing in 1871. perhaps she is with him. Him and his wife never appear on a census together

Well, this is an interesting one. Take a look and see what you think.

Wrong surname but right first name and age for father.
Right first name and second initial and age for daughter.

                      Toally wrong place of birth.

                      Also another daughter.

Unless he is in hiding, probably totally wrong!

Thanks for looking though, and Julie too. I think the occupation you deciphered is right

I did think it was a bit of a long shot LOL. BUT I did try tracing these Swatzmans and can't find them on any other census or any birth registrations for the two girls - so they have appeared and your family have disappeared. VERY ODD.

Transcribed as Swatton William - daughter Esther is there as well, transcribed as Swatton Estwick!

Oh, and Swatton William was born in Saddington, rather than Paddington! :D
