  • Beatrice Cabrera help please

My first post here so please dont kick me to hard if i post in the wrong place;)

I have for some unknown reason started a tree that has already hit a brick wall and need a bit of help or guided in the right direction!

Here goes, i am trying to find details of my great grandmother, i have a name of Beatrice Cabrera and have a little book that indicates she was in an orphanage in 1899 (st vincents!), i have got a birth cert of my Gran and Beatrice is named on there with a Frederick Francis Coombs as father, but what i cannot find is a marriage details of the two or birth cert of Beatrice.

Now rumour has it from aunts (deceased now) that beatrice came from spain and was part of the madrid royal family (yes i know, i giggled aswell).

well thats all i know so where can i find immigration records if the spain bit is anything to go by or anything at all of help would be great.

OR Are there any time travellers on here that can take me back and ask her

    Thanks, remember to kick gently

Not having any luck at the moment!!

The marriage cert would probably re-confirm her age and should give you her father's details. It would also tell you more about Frederick and his father.

          FamilySearch.org - Search

Tiddle! thought it would show you the page!

there again, I cant see a Beatrice, and maybe the name is as common in Mexico as Smith is here

There is someone on Ancestry who has Beatrice in their tree.
They also have the details of her marriage to Frederick Coombs- date, place etc.
Might be worth making contact - might save yourself seven pounds!

Interesting that the person with the Ancestry tree has Beatrice's birth as 1877, but the person on the 1901 census was aged 16. Where did you get the info that she was in the St Vincent orphanage? (ie where did the little book come from?)

Gosh, that was hard work!! 1911:

                    Frederick 45
                    Beatrice 29
                    Rosia 14

Well, if she put Mexico, Spain, or something with "America" in it, then either she or the transcriber have spelled it wrong! lol

Maybe you should buy the page to get the full info?

The (Roman Catholic) St Vincent Orphanage address is 36 Church Street, Kensington. (could be useful for Googling)

I presume that this would be the grandfather of Beatrice. Ramon Cabrera y Griñon b.1807 was a Carlist general who fought against Isabel ll of Spain. As he was on the losing side he had to leave Spain and went to France and then England. His biography has him marrying an English woman Marian Katherine Richards, evidently a wealthy woman. He died in 1877 after receiving a pardon from the royal family of Spain, so the rumours may not be so far fetched.

I suppose if we look for their children and one of them turns up on Beatrice's marriage cert
