    I am trying to work out what it says but cant
    I’m no genealogist …
    Until this year I spelled it “GeneOlogist!"

      When I google that everything comes up for Canada. This is from the English census 1861 in Durham
      Is it the name of the street or house?

        Nova Scotia, Harraton, Co Durham

          Possibly a by-product of the whaling industry.

            I would have said it was the name of the house, ours, which dates from 1897 has Avenue Cottage over the door........!!

              Seems to be a place associated with mining....

                I hope this works, if not look up the maps on Durham Miner, Nova Scotia is next to Harraton
