  • Register Office Marriages

Is there somewhere I can go to view marriages that were performed in a Register Office, like I can with normal church marriages?

I'm trying to find some and I'm not sure where to look next. I'm reluctant to pay £7 (I know, I'm a cheapskate!) to buy a cert if I don't have to.

Well, Guy says you can visit the local register office where the event was registered and they have to allow you to look at the certs (or is it the indexes?) and they are not supposed to charge. I've never heard of anyone actually doing this though, (my local RO said it would be £19 for two hours about 15 years ago and I didn't know I should say "the law says you cannot charge")

Maybe we could use you as a guinea pig?
