His first name is Benjamin, not sure about the middle name.

          Remembering: Cuthbert Gregory 1889 - 1916, George Arnold Connelly 1886 - 1917, Thomas Lowe Davenport 1890 - 1917, Roland Davenport Farmer 1885 - 1916, William Davenport Sheffield 1879 - 1915, Cuthbert Gregory 1918 - 1944

              Hi Ken

The first name looks like Benjamin to me, I've no idea what the middle name is! The last two letters look like 'er'

                Hi Ken

The surname of the groom's father looks like Pearn - the person who wrote the certificate has a very strange 'n', as he has done in Benjamin.

Initial letter of surname looks like initial letter of the groom's residence. But so does the beginning of Mariner!!!

Could be Pearce or Fraser or...

Sorry for the delay it was food time.

Surname is Pearn ( Gro had it as Pearce which took a while to find )
Thanks Elaine I had thought maybe Benjamin but it was only a guess on my part
The middle name of Lever is a possibility , as William Henry was born in Ireland I presume at the moment his parents were Irish

Now you've got the date and the church, you could get the original certificate from Southampton Register Office. The vicar's handwriting may (or may not) be more legible.

                        Thanks Uncle John
I am presuming that the original was very badly written as Pearn is Pearce on the quarterlies.

Ken - if you look above to Southampton, the S is very long and thin - I reckon it may be Benjamin Lever (?) PearSe - not PearCe, but don't think it's PearN - unless of course you know that is right.

William Henry Pearn is my OHs Gt Grandfather.
We have his daughters birth certificate and the mothers name is Fry
Up to that point all we knew was that she was an Emily
Emily Fry married William Henry Pearn in 1881
OHs uncle is still alive and has done a small tree , he knew his Grandfather and only knew his Grandmother as Emily , I think we will have to see the original certificate to be certain.
