It's the first name that I'm not sure about - I think I'm being influenced by what I think it ought to say:o

Having just previewed the post and seen the signature enlarged I think I know what you're all likely to say ...

The letter was written in June 1914. Julius(?) address was Highbury, London. It's to his Uncle, my gt Grandfather, about the will of his father who he doesn't actually name:( BUT I do have the death certificate of Joshua Webster dated February 1914 which fits. The problem is that I have the family in 1871 and they disappear until the 1911 census and then I can only find Joshua snr and his wife. This is them in 1871 RG10; Piece: 486; Folio: 77; Page: 42; (Joshua snr not with them don't know where he is but it's definitley them!) So it's quite possible that Julius was born during the 'missing' years. Sorry to be so confusing:o

I've just checked the 1911 census and without looking at a transcript etc there is a Julius Montague Webster aged 25 living in Wandsworth. Which is avery grand name for my lot!!

I've just seen that too! However it also says that he's going to live permanently in Scotland... there are several Julius Websters showing on USA census, she said hopefully;)

I have looked at the US censuses and none with a father or mother to match.

I see in 1871 Joshua the father is not with them, any idea where his was?

Thanks for looking Fiona. Joshua married Eliza Gristock in 1865 in Bethnal Green. There's no sign of him then until 1911 when he and Eliza turn up in Westcliff on Sea, Essex where he was also living in 1914 when he died, although his death is registered in Southwark as he died in Guy's Hospital.
