They have been there for a few weeks now Val. I managed to find some info on my Irish lot plus the images, but now the images have been removed.

Just wish they would make it easier to find the other half of a marriage!
    Wendy

PLEASE SCAN AT 300-600 DPI FOR RESTORATION PURPOSES. THANK YOU!

        Hi Val,

Through trial and error, some of us worked out a few tricks to help get better search results. See this thread: http://www.familytreeforum.com/resea...n-indexes.html

Just thought I would make all of you aware that the hand writing on the Irish Certificates is shocking...so presumably the records are probably the same.

I have obtained loads of certificates from Ireland (Dublin) and found that my grandmother's mother's name looks like CONROY..but it is infact CONBOY. Even the handwriting in some of the Parish Records is abismal. So it's no wonder that some of you might have difficulty in finding a match.

Hope this doesn't put any of you off in your search for Irish records in the Index.

            Good luck..Teresa

It is not yet complete, so worth checking it every now and then.

              Here's a nice certificate, for my great-great-uncle.

Sorry, that looks small, am useless doing this sort of thing.

Good idea in theory, thanks, but wouldn't I lose access to my photos I posted on there?

If I'd put the old one, they'd have sent something to that, and it no longer exists.

Anyway, after several emails exchanged with the photo bucket people, it is now sorted out.

                              And here it is again
                              - fingers crossed

                                  Hi Joy,
Using the attachment option reduces the file size. This thread explains how to upload an image file using Photobucket: How to Use Photobucket - Family Tree Forum

Just a quick note to say that there are or certainly were two years ago two sorts of certificates from Ireland. The first sort is the long version produced here by Joy, costing about the same as here, and you have always been able to get these certs and the much shorter cheaper version from Dublin GRO which costs about £3.

It is the shorter cheaper version which has always been handwritten and not always well written and difficult to read. but most of us who have bought these cheap short versions have been happy with these, as we have had many certs to buy and the beauty of them was that you could have them instantly and then do more research on the basis of the ones received. The information is almost identical but these cheaper versions are not available online only in Dublin GRO.

                                      Janet

I should have mentioned that, Janet, as I have had the other kind, too.

However, the one for my great-great-uncle is my favourite, because it was obtained by someone I know who went into the register office in Galway
