My 4x great grandfather was a cutler. He served his 7 year apprenticeship in London and then had his own business.
This is all in his trial dated 1796 at the Old Bailey. He was then sent here with his wife and children and had a very good life...lol
Apparently he would have had his own mark or stamp for the goods he produced.
Does anyone know where I might find any info on this.
I've tried google for "The Cutlers Society of London" as I saw it mentioned in a book but nothing comes up.
I've tried various other searches.
