I've found the William Gardner marriage but not the "John" one.

I've found a few children born to Helena and John.

There's a death for a John Davey in 1890. Could he be Helena's first husband??

She would then have married William as Helena Davey.

I just dont understand why she is listed as a Davey/Davy, shouldnt her maiden name be listed?

Helena and John had a daughter in 1890..... sad if he died the year she was born

If Helena marred John Davey, then John died, she would remarry as Helena Davey.

However the births of her children should have her maiden name. It could be that Helena Davey married John Davey.

I'll go and have another look at the later one.

Elizabeth Emma Ellen had a daughter in 1908 and later married in 1915. ?????

Maybe she took her mother's names as hers. Maybe she always had them??

I have a few who married with different second names than those they were born with.

Even some changed between birth and baptism.

Just working around dinner here.....if OH comes home....I'll have to leave for dinner.

You're an hour ahead of me.

I guess they could have both been Daveys, I know it does happen sometimes..... lol

If Elizabeth married Joshua in 1915 that would make her 28 marrying a 47 year old. Is that common/uncommon back then?

And no worries about dinner. We had snags

Fairly normal if she was his second wife.

Something else strange about the Helena Augusta Davy / John marriage is that if you search for it putting in the year 1883, it doesn't come up - you have to put in 1882, even though the display then shows the marriage as 1883.

                        That is odd!

I have looked at the electoral rolls and Joshua isnt with Elizabeth in any of them.

I cant find any of these women on the electoral rolls :(
(except for Lily, after she married my great grandfather Arthur Holt. I have them both in the electoral rolls)

Bother, I was just going to post up Helena's death but I refreshed the page without posting!

1903 Helena Augusta Gardner, parents Philip Davey and Elizabeth Emma Roberts.

If he's the one who died in 1890 then the death reg gives his parents' names as Christopher Davey and Ellen Harris.
