GED file help

I have a very old Family Tree Programme c 1996! I have been given a GED file from someone with info relating to one of the names that I am tracing. However, I have tried to upload this on to the FP programme unsuccessfully. Can I convert t his file to another something so that I can read whats in it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Try downloading a free family tree program such as PAF or Legacy.

I have now downloaded Legacy and imported the file and it works! Hooray, thank you.
