Following on from the posting 'elusive Battens' Can anyone find William Thomas Battams for me in 1841. He was a fishmonger and born about 1818. In 1841 I found his wife and baby son in Birmingham - Lawrence Street, but no Thomas William. Sadly the wife Maria died at the end of June 1841 and the baby in July1841. Neither death was notified by William Thomas.

Yes Kiterunner he was William George Battams, born 3rd May 1841. Father William -fish dealer, mother Maria Battams nee Sides. He died 26th July 1841. An Amy Pearson registered the death, she lived in Lawrence St, so presumably a neighbour. The mother's death was 13th June 1841 it was registered by Elizabeth Mason. On 1841 census Elizabeth Mason lived with the Battams and was described as a nurse. William Thomas Battams re-married in 1842 to Eliza Sides in Liverpool.

So is William Thomas the William Battams who is in Birmingham in 1851 age 33 and gives his birthplace as Hardmead, Bedfordshire? (Just so we know which county he was born in which might help in looking on the 1841.)KiteRunner
