  • Do you have any Flatmen/Watermen if your tree?

I do and one of the families is based in Liverpool/Birkenhead.

I have a great Great Grandfather mising from the 1881 and 1891 census and I was wondering where he was.

This was a sad period in their life. He married in 1885, had a daughter in 1887. His wife died in 1888 and he died in 1896. His daughter, my Great Grandmother was living with her grandparents in 1891 and was listed as a servant aged 15 in 1901.

Do you know anything about this type of work?

My husband has some watermen in his tree. This site is for our area in Cheshire but gives some history & info on watermen.
