  • Dirty Volume

At least once a week I get a blue screen and the message -

The type of file System is NTFS
    The volume is dirty

I then get a message from Micro. Windows Error Reporting which gives me troubleshooting

Nothing on the list applies to me, so my only option is a System Restore.

Can anyone tell me why I keep getting this message? Your advice would be much appreciated.

Have you tried doing a scan disk / chkdsk?

Yes it means you have bad or corrupted sectors, check disk (chkdsk) should fix the problem.

I would back all your stuff up if you haven't already, in case it means your hard disk is on its way out.

Sorry to have been so long replying, I have run the CHKDSK, which took quite a while, but the end result says VOLUME IS CLEAN, so hopefully that has solved my problem. Yes I have everything backed-up just in case!

Thank you so much for your help, very much appreciated. Also thank you to Guy.
