    Can anyone help me with the name of this street on the 1851 census

    I'm just seeing a blank document

    Can you give the census reference or what you searched for to find them and I'll look on ancestry.

    It sometimes help to go back or forward a few pages to see if the handwriting on them is any clearer

      It says 'John Francis', however, that is the name of the Head of Household at the top of the page.

        Thanks tracy I should read the census closer, they made a mistake with John Francis in the name column so put his name in the srett column. Thread closed

          I realise you have closed this thread but you may like to know the following:

          Batchworth is now part of Rickmansworth, though back in 1851 would have been classed as a hamlet, but there was never much there and no street names, not even today. Batchworth Hill leads to a well established farm and a lock on the canal. At the bottom of the hill are some cottages which may have well have been a baker and a forge.
