  • Finding a spouse?

    Name: Lavinia Hames
    Year of Registration: 1905
    Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
    District: Aston (1837-1924)
    County: Warwickshire
    Volume: 6d
    Page: 401

Is there anyway I can find the possibilities for the spouse of the above? I have ancestry and found this on there but wasn't sure if I could cross refer?

    Thanks

    Clare

I used FreeBMD. I just put in the reference no you stated and it brings up all names on that page.

          FreeBMD - Search

Put in the name of the person - even just a christian name and/or surname

          In results

click on the number next to Aston 6d and it will give you all the people that married - not who to though

Options for finding the actual spouse from the two possibles are

Check the 1911 census for Lavinia Appleby or Howell

Check the birth index via freebmd for children with mmn Hames (that only finds anything later than the latter part of 1911 though).

Using the bmd there appears to be Howell births with mmn Hames in 1914 and 1919 in Aston District.

And worth checking is the local bmd sites for the area

Thanks Glen, I found her on the 1911 census she is the Appleby.

And I've just used it to confirm a hunch I had which was right!! Tied up something for my mum which she will be really pleased about!

                What a fantastic site!!

Are you sure? On the 1911 census, Isaac Appleby appears to be married to Maggy.

I haven't posted the 1914 birth because of the date being less than 100 years but apart from it being a while after the marriage it's interesting to see the name of the child.

1914 births, surname Howell, mmn Hames.

I think you're both right, Howell is mine not Appleby, I was over excited at how fantastic that FreeBMD search is!
