I am looking for the death of Absolom Brookes

His wife is on the 1841 census with what I suppose is her father, Rachael Brooks age 30 with Stephen Winfield aged 80 various children.

- Ancestry.co.uk (http://content.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=view&r=5538&dbid=8978&iid=LEIHO107_593_594-0229&fn=Stephen&ln=Winfield&st=d&ssrc=&pid=6384995)

Rachael and Absolom had a child baptised in Jun 1835 in Church Gresley, Derbyshire

IGI batch C061291 (http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/igi/search_igi.asp?batch_number=C061291&region=2)

I can't find my copy of the NBI at the moment and I have searched FreeBMD from 1837-1841.

All of those places come under Ashby de la Zouch Registration District

Just found a remarriage for Rachel in 1843 to a William Collinson in Ashby.

Also found her on 1851 census with some Brooks children in the household as well, so definitely the right one.

Absolom must have died between 1834/1835 and 1843.

Cor blink, Merry! I am impressed - I have been searching for ages, with not a dickie-bird. Well done!

Chris

*gets out crystal ball* :D

There's a bap in 1802 on Family Search in Stoke on Trent, but there's an Absolam in Stoke on Trent in 1841, even if he is listed as 45!

Thanks for that link Merry! :D It will hopefully answer some questions for me as I have a line that goes to CG and then nothing.

I've found one marriage though already :)

Yes, I saw that one.

The only link with Stoke I can see is that they all seem to end up being Potters
