  • Why are some USB sockets not standard

    Larger than others.
I have fitted a 4/5 sockets board to my computer and some plug ins do not fit, I have manage to fit them using a cord extension lead. Why is this?

Are you sure they are USB plugs you are trying to fit and not Firewire plugs.
The fire wire plug is similar to a USB but has bevelled edges on one of the narrow sides.

Hi Guy, one of the plugs is the one on the Orange Freetouch 330 box, it fits the usb socket at the front of the computer, What I have fitted is from PC World, PC Line 5 port USB 2.0 PCI Card - Adds 5 USB 2.0 High speed ports.
I have manage to connect them using small extension leads.

            James,

It is probably due to differing sizes in the plastic shrouding on your cables... I have fallen foul of this in the past...
