Can somebody change title please to

help required with restore from back up cd.

Just wanted to ask.
I read Glen in Tinsel Knickers advice re backing up to cd.
I tried it from FTM. file showed on disc.
Tried to open it and was asked what program I wanted to open it
with. Tried a couple just to see and all I got was a text file.
Opened FTM and tried to open as a new file. Said no file was there.
Confused.

I want to back up just in case. But dont know how to reopen if need too.
Sorry if I am being a nuisance. I really am not good with these things.

Can you not just save to disc?

You cannot open up a Family Tree Maker file unless it is on your computer.
Copy the file that is saved on the CD over to your hard disk - you can copy and paste it to your desktop if you want to.
Then open up FTM and try to open it again.
