  • Passenger on ship

    Hello all

Recently i have been following the footsteps of my OH's family who lived in India and thanks to people on here i have got a very good idea on where they were at certain points of their life.

I just have one last thing to do and i was wondering if i could take 2 minutes of someone's time to help?

When Winifred Hutfield came back from India in 1936 she was only travelling with her 2 young sons and what looks to be her sister.
I have found Cyril L Hutfield coming back to england but im not able to view the image as im not with Ancestry.
He is on a ship that arrives in Liverpool.

Could somebody please fill me in on the details please?

    Many thanks in advance

    Danny

      Thankyou Elaine

Weird, his wife travelled to England in 1936 and i could not see him which made me think he travelled back soon after as he and his wife had kids in portsmouth and london in 1939 and 1941.

So he must have come back on another ship on another date.

      Ill go search now.

      Thankyou

      Danny

Where have you found Winifred Hutfield. I cannot see her on the Incoming Passenger Lists on Ancestry.

On Ancestry, listed as travelling from Japan, not India! That´s why I couldn´t see her.

Not that I'd doubt you for a minute ;) , but is Japan the port of voyage origin or the boarding port?

                Sorry, didn´t make myself clear!

It states Yokohama, Japan as Port of departure, with ports of voyage as Kobe, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Penang, Colombo, Marseilles and Gibraltar .

When Danny said they had travelled from India I was using that as a search criteria for port of departure, which was why I couldn´t see them!

Sorry to bother you again Elaine but did Mrs Hutfield (Winifred) board at Colombo or Japan?
