Help - keyboard giving wrong symbols!

My OH's laptop has started giving the wrong symbols. It does " for @ and other stuff.

I think this means it has gone American. We should know how to sort this out ..... but we don't......HELP, please :o:o

Oh dear! We did all those things. The settings say English (UK) everywhere but the @ is still "

Any other suggestions please?

OH thinks he's done something to Word - but that also says English (UK) :(

No, it wont be in word.

Make sure you check in both places in the Regional Settings in control panel...

Here (Regional Options tab)...



and here (Languages tab click the Details button)...

If you have United States listed in the Installed Services list, then select it and click Remove. Then it wont happen again.

Sorted now. He did a restart in the end - should have done it sooner. Why do we never think of that first?? :o
