  • A Tribal Pages Query

I have put my tree on Tribal pages, and have the access code turned on and have customised the settings to hide living people.

Yet when I search for anyone in my tree on the main Tribal Pages site, no one shows up - (well, a few do from an old tree which I appear to have put on in 2006 :D:o).

Does anyone have any idea what I have done wrong, please?

    Thanks

    Hi Joan,

Have you put your tree there recently?

I've just checked one of my TP trees. In edit mode, under "sharing", click Tribal Pages Directory. On the next page I have the message

Your site is marked for inclusion in the directory. Our search engine will add your deceased ancestors the next time it visits your site.
I don't know how often the TP search engine updates the directory.

Thanks Gillian - I only put it there yesterday so I guess that is the answer.

Maybe I haven't done anything wrong after all LOL!

lol Joan - if something doesn't do what I'm expecting it to do on the PC, I always assume it's my fault too!

Incidentally, although I have that message displayed, if I click on the "check directory now" box under the message, it tells me how many names from my tree are in the search database. So, don't assume because the message is still displayed that the names have not been included yet.

              Joan,
When I first put my tree onto TP, it took more than 24 hrs to upload....so maybe it's a case of you expecting for too much, too soon?
I'm still following your "story" every day on the long thread.

Thanks Karen - guess I'm just impatient -LOL
And it's very odd - I obviously put a tree there in 2006! - I have absolutely no recollection of that - but it must have been me as the password is the name of my black cat!! :D
