  • Research board success story...and thanks

Some of you probably know from recent threads i have foregone Ancestry recently, you also probably know how involved i am with the Scotland pow project.

I couldn't justify Ancestry again because my research took a back seat to the pow project and finances are another factor too, now everything on the pow is up to date and just waiting for more images to arrive i have the time to research again.

I started looking at a few lines that have been neglected for too long, combining the latest updates from freereg and answers to a few queries for census help here on the research board i have added quite a bit of useful info to my tree this week, not everything is 100% guaranteed but the names and dates all seem to tally up and when late enough events are concerned they continue into the census years and relationships appear to match the earlier records too.

I'm pretty certain i have jumped back two generations at least on one direct line and with a bit of luck could soon find a few more leads to add to that line, and some good groundwork on another line has given me a potential breakthrough in another area.

So thanks to all those who have contributed to the requests this week, either with a look up or adding a name/date etc to steer me along somewhere.

Lincolnshire and London specialists beware, your help will be needed soon!!

        Thanks Gloryer

I'm more Lincoln city and south Lincolnshire really in research terms, but as things become clearer it looks like Wragby and Minting are coming into play but the offer is appreciated.

            Hi

I have always struggled with one family line,

I think one of them passed through Minting but can't be 100% sure

1795 Marriage; Richard CHAMBERS to Ann BOSSWELL, Langton by Wragby

1797 Baptism; Ann Chambers (daughter of the above marriage)

1821 Baptism; Frederick Chambers; son of Ann, Minting

1823 Baptism; William Chambers; son of Ann, Minting (William appears on later census returns as born Minting and also Lincoln)

1828 Marriage; John CHAMBERS to Ann Chambers, Minting

1834-45 five children noted on census returns to John and Ann, all born Lincoln but as yet no confirmed baptism or birth registrations.

            -----
The William born Minting and Ann born Wragy references tally with later census returns, they are the only clues that tie things together at the moment, the Chambers surname appears all over the county but a reference to somewhere as small as Minting could be crucial but at the moment it isn't gauranteed that i have the same William and Ann throughout.

I had a look through the research I had here for my family in Minting and I am sorry to say I couldn't find Chambers amongst it.....my minting family was mostly Marshall.

I also have ancestors in Minting. I think it's my Fenwicks.

Isn't that amazing...three people with ancestors from a village in the 1800;s with a population of only a few hundred.....in different countries too.

Well my Fred and William appear in the gedcom database as Lincoln born at present, there are a couple of other FTF members with Minting born folks in their tree entered in the database.

There are a few from the Wragby/ Langton by Wragy area too that come close to the 1800-1820 period..

If i could ever get anywhere with my adoptive family tree then the Marshall name crops up in the mid 1800's and post 1900 in and around Gainsborough, Marton, Sturton and possibly Kirton Lindsey. I lost everything when the old pooter died and only have a sketchy outline of things at the moment.
