I am trying to find where Sarah Elizabeth Baughan born 1855 in Chipping Norton, Oxon was between 1861 - 1878.
She appears in all census's except 1871.
In 1861 she was in Enstone, Oxon.
In 1876 she was a witness at her sister's wedding in Enstone.
In 1881 she was in Westcott, Dorking.
Rumour has it that when she was young she was sent from Oxon to a convent near Ditchling Sussex because her father was widowed in 1862. Her father then became a pauper and could not keep Elizabeth and it was then that it is believed she was 'sent away'.
I cannot find her anywhere in 1871 but when she married in 1878 she was shown as living in Barlavington, Sussex.
Any thoughts or ideas welcomed please as to how I can trace her during these 'missing years'.
Regards,
Steve
