There are 8 possibles listed (in Lincolnshire) - any idea of his date of birth?

There are eight matches, Glen, but only one without a middle name in Lincs:

      Name: John Townsend
      Birth Date: 17 Feb 1915
      Death Registration Month/Year: Jan 1989
      Age at death (estimated): 73
      Registration district: Grantham
      Inferred County: Leicestershire, Lincolnshire
      Volume: 7
      Page: 1639

Do you know his age, or anything else?

Born 1919, last known of in 1987 in Lincoln.

Finally confirmed as a brother to my b/f (James) and the informant on the death cert in 1984.

            The Townsend curse again.

There are three brothers, all mmn Turner

            John 1919

            James 1923

            Joseph 1925

I have the 3 certs for James, it indicates his parents were married but when he died the registration (Worksop, 1984) is listed under both Townsend and Turner surnames.

I have never found a likely Turner/Townsend marriage which makes me think that there isn't one, but James did have kids to several women and was known to use both surnames.

The only other thing i know is that John had a wife with the initial "D" but her name/age isn't known.

            **Edit**

just noticed a death in the name Joseph aged 0 in 1925, wonder if that is the same Joseph as the 1925 birth?

Probably a daft idea but have you checked for "Jack" as well? My granddad was born John but he was always known as "Jack"

              Could be worth a shot.

                Always worth a shot Joan.

I have never got anywhere with this lot, i wonder if John remained in Lincoln or if he perhaps oved after retiring?

I should really try and see if there is any Townsend clues in the Caistor area.
