  • Leciestershire place name??

Anyone got any ideas where WHELSTONE Leicestershire cAould actually be?

I have it for one man in 1901 and thought it was a complete misunderstanding of Whetstone in Middlesex

I've now found him in 1911 and he's still saying Whelstone.

    Thanks in advance

I only know there's another one as I've struggled in many census trying to find my Scutchings/Schuckings/Scucheons/Scucans (most mistranscribed name ever) who were born Whetstone but like to vary it by saying Willesden/Finsbury/Barnet

I never knew there was one in Leicestershire

"The North begins at Watford" syndrome :D:D

Totteridge & Whetstone is one stop south of High Barnet on the Northern Line.
